My wife Pat and I come from a reenacting background dating back to the early 1970’s with the old NAPR/NMLRA (National Association of Primitive Rifleman/National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association) western rendezvous.

We are members of SASS, NRA, NCOWS (The National Congress of Old West Shootists), and CMSA (The Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association), NMLRA and members of the Ottawa Chippewa Band of Indians of Michigan. So we travel the country attending Pow-Wows as well as CAS events.

I received my film training courtesy of Uncle Sam at the US Army Pictorial Center Studios in New York City, which at one time were the old Astoria Silent Film Studios. The Center is now the National Museum of Motion Pictures.

After I finished my film training, I did a tour of duty in Vietnam as a Combat Cameraman in 1966, it was a pretty hairy experience to say the least.

I have worked on several film projects for the History Channel. One series being ‘Frontier, Legends of the Old Northwest’.
I’ve also done some stunt work in a film called Prairie Tides  for PBS, and was the Native American Advisor on the same film. I have done voice over’s in my native language Aaniishina’be (Ottawa/Chippewa) for the film, ‘Into The Woods’ for Pioneer Productions.

The Video Camera I am presently using is a Sony HVR-V1U High Definition camera. The nice thing about the V1U is, I can shoot in high definition and still get a film look by shooting in Cinematic mode, a much more pleasant viewing experience then shooting in pure high definition.

In the editing room is where you really have control of how the finished product will eventually turn out, and to me is the most interesting and enjoyable part of the filming process. I use Avid Liquid Pro as my editing platform. This software is the same as used in most major Motion Picture Film work where High Definition is used in final editing and composting.

All of our music is original and is done in house, unless otherwise specified in the credits. When I video tape a western event I try to make sure the music and theme match the film.

As you can see my interest in Motion Picture and Videography, Film Making has been a life long passion.
